2005 October 8 - Wallace and Gromit and The Day the MRT Was Closed For Repairs

This has not been my day but it was a learning experience.

First, I left the house early to catch the train and after climbing Cubao station's loooooooonnnnnggg flight of stairs I found that it was closed due to technical problems. I had to take the bus which was more expensive than the fare of the train. You'd think the bus operators would have competitive rates but nooo. Don't be fooled by the musty and dusty smell, the used-to-be-white curtains which are now gray and the rickety sounds they make as they pass EDSA. They are NOT cheaper than the MRT.

Secondly, I now know why people cram themselves into the trains. It's because they don't have to sit in the made-for-tall-people seats of the buses and have your mid-thigh getting numb from the one-hour trip (and that's not even traffic). You also don't have to experience repeated, hopefully unintentional, brushing and forcible bumping of your thigh as people and conductor pass the bus' narrow aisle. You only get to experience the homo-hetero-sexually harassing masses of bodies in the train for a maximum of 15 minutes.

Third, Wallace and Gromit has some of the wittiest lines I've heard in a long time. You have got to see this movie! It's not only for kids, I swear. There are enough sexual innuendos to get you in stitches. Bring your kids and they'll find the bunnies cute enough and you get your own chuckles too. Thanks for the free movie Jen! Hmmm, all in all the day might not have been that bad but it sure is enlightening. =)
